Raja B. Smarta as a consultant and advisor, has an ability of converting, science, competencies and aspirations of his clients in their business success. Experientially, he has spent almost 43 years in pharma and Health sciences industry. He has many brands to his credit in pharmaceuticals. Besides, pharmaceuticals, he has also launched many new concepts like Yellow pages, Leo Toys, Depend, Wipro Baby Soft soap & Powder, Sunflower Health, World Health sugar control Atta etc.

He is the Founder and Managing Director of Interlink, a leading Business and Performance Consultancy for entrepreneurs and corporates from Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, Healthcare and Wellness industry since last 26 years in India. He is making distinctive and meaningful contribution in improvement in Business Performance through Strategy consulting, Training and Competency building in domestic and internationalmarkets. Interlink has 25 full time and 80, subject matter experts in India on project basis with three strategic alliances in Brazil, Australia and Japan.

Academically, Smarta is M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry (Drugs) from University of Nagpur (1967). MMS from JBIMS University of Mumbai (1972) and Ph.D in management sciences from University of East Georgia (1967). He is Fellow of Royal Society of Arts and Commerce (FRSA) – London – Fellowship No.201295, Certified Management Consultant (CMC) from IMCI and received Rashtriya Ekta Award by Global Economic centre of India Being a Consultant and Teacher in prestigious management Institutes, he combines practice and academics for management and leadership. He is teaching in JBIMS -Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies since 1977 on subjects like marketing, marketing personnel management, sales management, strategic management, strategic marketing & consulting as a visiting faculty. He has also developed a programme with JBIMS to train their Chartered Accountants on individual consulting skills. He was a guest faculty for Indian Institute of Management - Indore and Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore.

Since its inception till 1988-89, he was on regular basis as visiting faculty for NMIMS. Besides, he was called for as a Guest lecturer in Symbiosis-Pune, S.I.E.S. Management college-Mumbai, K.M. Kundnani college of Pharmacy-Mumbai, Manipal college of Pharmacy &  anagement-Manipal - Training centre and Tata Management Training center-Pune Besides, teaching in Institutes, he has been called for National and International seminars on Marketing Strategy, Organizational Strategy, Customer relations Management, Marketing, Branding, Consultancy and other business related issues conducted by O.P.P.I.(Organization of Pharmaceutical Producers of India), I.D.M.A. (Indian Drugs Manufacturers Association), O.R.G. (Operational Research Group), F.D.A. (Food & Drugs Administration), A.I.D.C.O.C. (All India Drugs Control Officers’ Confederation) and A.P.I. (Association Pharmacists of India).

He is on board of HADSA (Health Foods & Dietary Supplements Association) and working on the policy platform of FSSAI and Nutrition for nutraceuticals and foods. He is also attached to SEA on advisory body of ASEAN countries on Nutrition related regulations. He has so far authored three researched books – Strategic Pharmaceutical Marketing, Revitalizing the Pharmaceutical Business and also co-authored Mega Market in German and English. His fourth book on “Nutrition & Innovations” is scheduled in 2011 which willbe co-authored with international team of experts and editors.
